Trip Thomas

About Me

I am a Welsh hobby photographer based in County Meath, Ireland and  enjoy shooting landscapes, woodland and seascapes. I mostly enjoy taking photos of my dog (#TripThomas).

I bought my DSLR in November 2016 a week or so before a trip to Vietnam and Cambodia; by the time I’d landed back in Ireland, I was completely aware of how little I knew or understood about photography. In early 2017, I began to take an active interest in improving my skills and took part in a half day workshop with a local professional who introduced me to filters and aperture mode. I have since joined Drogheda Photographic Club with the intention of further improving and pushing myself – and being pushed - onwards and upwards.

Generally, I use a basic Nikon DSLR camera with a variety Cokin filters which normally sit on top of a Vanguard Alta Pro 263 AB 100 (a super and wallet-friendly tripod) or when travelling further afield, a Manfrotto Pixi Evo-2 mini tripod (a decent travel option). Sometimes, I just take shots with my Huawei P20 mobile phone – it didn’t come with Tetris pre-loaded but the great camera (which includes a Leica lens) makes up for that oversight on Huawei’s part!

The purpose of this website is for me to showcase some of my favourite photos in the way I want to and not as set out by Instagram and Facebook. That said, my Instagram account is where the more recent images will be uploaded to and to a lesser extent Facebook (although I have a Flickr account, do not expect a lot of activity there).
